26th February - 25th March
Wait a minute, Biggus-- Nope! No! I don't care anymore! I want to keep the pun namesake of this series and I know that requires me to maintain some level of consistency but, seriously, March was a blur. You're on my turf, we go by my rules.
Anyways, I was in a bit of a limbo state for the first two weeks of March. On the fortnight, we had another wedding party, this time in the UK for our UK buddies. Two weeks later, two big family meals. Big things happening. Now, all the celebrations are officially done and I'm not stuck in that weird limbo... Planning-but-unable-to-do-anything-more phase. This shit's done. Go home. Don't, actually. Keep the tab open. Can you tell I'm writing this in the early AM? Aren't I daring.
You may sense a begrudging energy in these paragraphs but I'm actually really content, these past two months have just been celebrations for us, I really do feel so much gratitude for everyone who was involved. I seriously need to muster up all my energy so I can write about it in depth.
Commonplace Entries: hangout with friends at a pub or somewhere else to retake some GCSE tests; make cheap wigs look realistic by using medical gauze, thinning scissors, faux baby hairs, tweezers and by blending the roots; "bring a friend others don't know," party. Some easy clothing management principles: if it's overwhelming to sort clean clothes, use bins inside your wardrobe instead of folding or hanging; if the pile itself is overwhelming, pre-sort clothes into washable bags; worn but still clean clothes should have an open home or be given the ultimatum between being put back into the wardrobe and just being washed; cycle out off-season clothes.
Games I'm Playing
Mewgenics This was gifted to me so I felt obligated to give it a go. It's really charming, I can see myself really getting into it. Unfortunately, I don't know if this is a problem exclusive to me or not, controller support is really buggy right now so I'm holding off from playing any further.
Q-Up Another gift. The draw for me was that this game was created by the same team behind Universal Paperclips, a little fixation of mine. It lays its satirical nature out quite bare but has an in depth skill and item system that's, honestly, impressive but far too beyond me. I was able to complete the game once and would love to play again at some point, purely to focus on the story told through its emails system. Will I actually go Pro though? Hm.
Cult of the Lamb It is only natural that I return to this game every couple of months, specifically to completely erase my previous save and start anew. This game, to this very day, still has one of the most captivating soundtracks.
Vampire Survivors Ahuehue.
Resident Evil 9: Requiem Wow! I played this with my husband (ahuehuehuehue) and it brought me right back to RE7, and then brought me back to the little bit of RE4 I played a few years back. I think Capcom are gonna be hard pressed to figure out a way to top this, unless they can find a way to keep the momentum going into the latter half of the next game because, for this one, my attention did begin to wane a bit-- Which is funny because that's where all the Awesome happens (note the capital A). That first encounter with The Girl was something, that part especially got us straight up pausing and contemplating. We started a speedrun but didn't get a chance to complete it before my husband (fufufufufufufu) flew back home.
Media Treats
The Problem with Banning OF... Kat Blaque delivers a take that I, as someone very pro-regulation + anti-prohibition on almost everything, really appreciate within the discussion of adult industries.
How a pianist dries his socks Oh, Niko B, you stand up guy.
EATEN ALIVE in Uganda We gotta keep independent cinema alive. Not pseudo-intellectual, Pinterest-slop, quote-slop.1 I want Shinya Tsukamoto and his pots and pans back on the damn set.
made Whole lotta red Onigiri for Playboi Carti This Cartinese business really transcends all that is currently known about the universe, cultural hegemony, and other-buzzword, huh?
Simple Screw Counter I can't, in my heart of hearts, hate 3D printer bros, and I especially can't hate acrylic sheet bros. I would assume it's simply because they're crafty guys, just a buncha crafty guys, instead of course-selling gambling freak-men. I don't really care about why this guy needs a screw counter, but there's a level of commitment that almost entices me. At the very least, I cheer him on.
This month was also the release of Underscore's U, which is my current album of the year. There's a lot to unpack but The Peace reminded my husband of Imogen Heap's Speak for Yourself, which he then showed me. Hollywood Forever is infectious and Innuendo + Lovefield are the other highlights for me.
&Extras:

- ::maligna kodera; - Prototype Gameplay
- Antivirus Survivors 2003 Professional - Official Demo Trailer
- Mixed media film about my cat – 'The Real You'

Footnotes
I'm not a hater, to be honest, I can appreciate a good spectacle. I can also appreciate having a brain when consuming media, but it's sure as shit funny to insist on ranking Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie higher than Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and I will just allow myself to die on that hill. If anything, I don't harbour enough hate in my soul against the "film guy", and I owe that to getting married to a guy who later just so happened to get really into watching films, instead of entering the dating scene and dealing with the already insufferable "film guy," (plural).↩
