[007] Bi(ggus)-Weekly Digest
I've been working on a letter to send to some friends, aesthetic PenPal style. They don't know it's happening. Beyond that, Fletcher and I have been trying to put together our I-130 package. We should've started a month ago given the lengthy processing times but it's just such a tall order and really requires us to scrape through some stuff to prove our marriage was bonafide. Gives me a headache.
Games I've Been Playing
Animal Crossing: New Horizons My friend wants to play with me sometime and to that I sincerely apologise because I've just got so much stuff lying around and I feel all greasy (in game) and crusty (in game). I swear it will happen at some point, Fletcher bought me Nintendo Online so I really have no excuses.
In other news, I've made a fire camping grounds and am currently working on the marketplace.
Look Outside Ahahaha... Oh I love this game. This has become one of my favourite games this year and I would've been shocked to hear that a month ago. Low and behold, I've played about 35 hours this past two weeks.
I haven't paid too much attention to what the videogame essayists are saying, but the title to one, "Look Outside is not a horror game," summarises it so well, and I'm fully on board with the comparison between this and Undertale. It isn't as lol random xd (Eugene's shop theme is very Undertale though), but it certainly delivers similar messages of friendship, endurance and good will in crisis. That isn't to say I'm utterly creeped out by all the monsters in the game, I think it does it's atmosphere brilliantly.
That moment where I finally got to the rooftop is something that will stick with me for a while; it's just... beautiful. Cosmic horror, to be sure. Shock and awe just hits you and the music-- oh my god, give these composers their flowers. The soundtrack from the beginning to the rooftops to the final battle gives me chills.
Resident Evil 5 "Did you put a fucking mod in this?" accidentally recreated when it panned to Chris gimped the fuck out. Except it wasn't a mod this time. This was Capcom's will.
Vampire Crawlers While its inspiration from Slay the Spire can't be ignored, I appreciate that the devs really wanted to make this their own. I love their choice to revitalise and marry old-school dungeon crawling with the roguelite formula prevalent in modern indie gaming.
I'll still need some time to figure out the strategies, but Vampire Survivors has never penalised players for being casual. Rather, irrespective of how much you wipeout early, you're always on that motorised walkway towards AoE Supreme. My time will come eventually.
Media Treats
The AI From 1996 That Someone Tortured This is the kind of game that just doesn't exist in my world but, if you can believe it, it does in fact have a steam page. Maybe you are familiar with it, maybe you played it, but you have to remember that (whisper) I am an '02 kid.
Who Actually Made This 3D Emoji Guy I don't care for 3D Emoji Guy but I do enjoy internet archeologists. This video did reinvigorate my disdain for crypto. The people who pedal meme-based crypto are especially sad but, more than anything, I'm shocked by the people who feed into it because of Epic Lolz, the same kind of person to mock neurodivergence and love slurs because life isn't that deep. Rancid lot.
Clavicular Is A Symptom, Not The Cause I always tune into A Bit Fruity. This might be my favourite video from Matt yet.
No Drank, No Coke Music was forgettable for me, personally, but I'm liking the visual direction underground rappers have been taking over the past year. My eyes are currently on Young Eman.
Kermit is just Felt & Ping Pong Balls I LOVE PUPPETEERS UGH. I LOVE 'EM. WE LOVE 'EM. UGGGHHHH.
Web Goodies
blobSketch Release your inhibitions, or so it goes.
Spiral Betty I'm especially fond of the 'colour in' option. I see it being really good for scrapbooking.
Virtual bubble wrap I'm sharing because it's cool as a concept but, can I be honest? This stresses me out. It seriously stresses me out.
JelloTopia Another cute online photobooth.
Floor796 I'm so lost and it feels so good. I'm especially appreciative of the relative links and labels.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. This is the first bi-weekly I've written and posted on time so I'm buzzing about that, I am. Feel free to read the previous entry or view the full collection. I love you. - Biggus
