Get a move on before it gets a-you

Don't panic, not a long post. I visit my university city every couple of months because I like the scene (whimsy) and I visited again today to catch up with a friend who's moving away for a Masters in a couple months. I won't air out our gossip 'cause it's none ya1 but the topic of location came up, which is something I've written about before.

I'm Thai in my blood but I never felt a strong tether to my home country, I grew up in a home town that's almost suffocating in how I will always be under the shadow of my high school self, and now I feel detached from the city I thought I'd live in forever because it almost represents all the friends I made and couldn't keep in my adulthood and my degree that means nothing so long as I'm not as passionate as the next guy.

My friend and I expressed a shared lack of attachment to our hometowns and now this city, though for different reasons, which is just really comforting. As much of a pain as it is to fight geography, it's always worth it to shoot the shit and talk to someone who understands these experiences. I don't really have many friends I would take a 'spenny flight to visit but she's one of them.

I gotta get out of here. Physically. In my soul. Whatever. I have the route mapped out, I just need to get a move on.
